Beautiful Edmonton Hoar Frost - Edmonton Family Photographer
A selection of images from a beautiful winter day full of hoar frost in Edmonton.
This is a bit of a continuation to my last blog entry, so if you haven't read that one, you can do so here.

I wanted to share more from our afternoon out in the snowy winter wonderland that Edmonton was last week.
The kids had such a good time running and jumping around in and on the snow. The temperature wasn't too cold - it really was the perfect day to be outside in winter.
After the kids were done snow jumping and falling, we ventured into the edge of the "forest" to see what else we could find.
There was so much beautiful hoar frost covering all of the trees and shrubs. I am such a fan, and the kids were too. They loved shaking the branches and making it "snow".
Right after this last shot was taken, Townes dropped his soother (on purpose) so he could grab a mitt full of snow and eat it. I grabbed his soother to put it in my pocket and panic set in. I realized I had dropped my phone out of my pocket - into this snowy winter wonderland!
Amazingly, it was found - and still works (after having a lengthy rice bath), but boy was I worried. Not so much about the phone itself, but about the photos on it that I hadn't backed up yet. A little reminder that I should be just as thorough with backing up my personal photos as I am with client photos. Lesson learned!
With the warmer weather we've had, this beautiful frost is now gone. But I am hoping we get another run of it at least once more this season. It's definitely one of my favourite things about winter.
Are you a fan of winter? I'd love to know what your favourite (or least favourite) thing about it is in the comments below!
52 Frames - Week Five - Falling - Edmonton Family Photographer
My selected photo for week 5 of the 52 Frames Challenge - "Falling".
Week five's theme for the 52 Frames Challenge was "Falling".
I grabbed this shot on day three of the beautiful hoar frost filled days we had last week. The sun decided to come out and I hurried the kids to get dressed and out the door so we could get some photos before the sun melted away the frost.
This field is our new favourite spot to adventure, and it's only a few minute drive from our house. When we got there we saw that the snow had hardened and it was strong enough for the kids (and me in places) to walk on. They had a blast running and jumping trying to break through the top of the snow. I'll post a full blog post of our afternoon here tomorrow. :)
