Happy St. Patrick's Day - Edmonton Family Lifestyle Photographer

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

St. Patrick's Day is such a fun day, full of green, shamrocks, leprechauns, and pinches for those who forgot to wear green!  After having kids, I've learned it's also a fun day for crafts, green pancakes, and stories.

I had the opportunity to take some photos of my kids for another local business - Home Sewn - who makes some great quality children's items, including some super fun green items that are perfect for St. Patrick's day, but also any other day of the year.  You can check them out below, and take a peek at her website here.

Elliot loves his new infinity scarf.  Townes' bandana bib is double sided, which I'm a big fan of.

Also, how amazing is this soother bib? It holds a soother at the end to avoid drops, and it's not easy for little hands to undo like a soother clip. I needed this in my life when Elliot was a baby. <3

Wishing you all a fun remainder of St. Patrick's Day! Look out for those pinches if you forgot. ;)

Townes Turns One

My littlest turned one last month. This last year has been a whirlwind for me.  It's definitely been an adjustment for all of us. For me it meant back to the land of little sleep and the busy that a baby brings. For my older son it meant learning how to share and look out for his little brother - which is still a work in progress.  Through it all, we have made it through the first year as a family of four (or six if you count the fur-children), and I wouldn't have it any other way. So, Townes, happy birthday. Here's to the next year of adventure.

To celebrate the occasion we had a little photo shoot. I don't do "studio" type sessions anymore since I don't really have the space for it since we moved, but I couldn't resist, since I did the same for my first kiddo.

We started off in his birthday duds.  How cute is this "1" shirt.  I couldn't resist.  This is the first time we've done photos like this, so he wasn't too sure about it.

Next up was the traditional Cake Smash. For being such a messy eater, I really expected him to make much more of a mess than he did with his smash cake. I designed his room with a woodland theme and carried it over into his birthday theme as well.  Fresh berries and foxes for T it was.

For his party, we went woodland style again.  Carrot cake with cream cheese icing, butter cake with berry buttercream. Yum! Can you tell I like making cakes? Townes had his own little mini cake, which again, he didn't make much of a mess of, surprisingly.  Big brother, Elliot helped him open his gifts. It was a lot of fun.

While I don't shoot studio sessions anymore, I do still shoot outdoor cake smash sessions when the weather is nice.  They are a lot of fun and a little bit of a change.  If your little one is celebrating their first birthday this spring/summer I'd love to do a session for you!

An Ice Castle Wonderland

Last Sunday was not only Valentine's Day, but my youngest son's birthday.  We decided a visit to the Ice Castle was finally in order.  What a magical place.  Elliot had a blast walking through all of the tunnels and walkways, and splashing in some puddles along the way, but his favourite part was definitely the ice slide.  He and his friend must have gone down it at least ten times.

Townes wanted to walk and explore on his own, too. He was a bit wobbly, as the ground was quite uneven for such little feet, but he did pretty well. He kept looking up at the ice walls and I wish I knew what he was thinking.

I'm hoping the castle returns next year. It would be nice to visit it earlier in the season. Were you able to visit? I'd love to know how your experience was!

Website Launch, Out of Hibernation Mini Sessions and Giveaway

I'm so excited you have made it to my new website! I've spent the last few weeks putting it together and it has definitely been a labour of love. I am hoping it is easier to navigate and more accessible for you. I've also included all of my past blog sessions, and added photos to them if you would like to take a peek at more of my work from the past year.

My Valentine's Day baby turns one on Sunday, and while I'm a bit sad he is growing up so quickly, I am excited to be able to take on more sessions and come out of hibernation - my 3-year-old and his cute cowl inspired the theme idea.

I am currently offering lifestyle newborn, children, family, couples, maternity and outdoor cake smash sessions. I'm also now offering family and children video sessions at a reduced rate. To celebrate the website launch, I am holding Out of Hibernation Mini Sessions on March 12th, 2016. Check out the "Events" page for all of the details!
